The GTA 6 release date is Thursday, 19 November 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preloading starts at local midnight on 12 November. There’s no PC version at launch. (Confirmed by Rockstar)

After two delays and nearly three years of trailers, the GTA 6 release date finally looks locked in. Here’s when you can play it, when you can download it, and what it costs.

When does GTA 6 come out?

Rockstar’s announcement says GTA 6 “will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026” (Rockstar Newswire). The official GTA VI website shows the same date.

Which consoles is GTA 6 on?

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Rockstar’s site says it “plays best on” PlayStation 5. It is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One.

When can you preload GTA 6?

If you pre-order digitally, you can start downloading from local midnight on 12 November, a full week before launch. That gives you time to finish the download and play the moment the game unlocks.

The boxed version doesn’t contain a disc. It holds a download code, so you’ll still need to download the game, and the code also works for preloading from 12 November.

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar hasn’t announced the exact unlock time. (Not confirmed) We’ll add the time for the US, UK, Europe and India (IST) as soon as it’s official. Until then, treat any specific time you see online as a guess.

How much does GTA 6 cost?

Upgrading from Standard to Ultimate later costs $20. Digital pre-orders also get the Vintage Vice City Pack and a month of GTA+. (Confirmed; India prices from the PlayStation Store listing) If you take the GTA+ trial, note that it can renew as a paid subscription unless you cancel it.

Has GTA 6 been delayed?

Yes, twice. It was first planned for 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, then to 19 November 2026. Rockstar said it needed the extra time to finish the game to the standard players expect, and apologised for the longer wait. (Confirmed)

Could it slip again? Nothing suggests it. Pre-orders and preload dates are set, and Rockstar is still revealing new material, including six radio stations on 8 October. Even the Cyberleek leaks haven’t changed the date.

Our take: With preload set for 12 November, the smart move is to pre-order digitally if you want to play at launch. A boxed copy still means a full download on day one.
