The GTA 6 launch trailer is out. Rockstar released it on 15 October 2026, just over a month before the game launches on 19 November. It runs about 90 seconds, it was captured on PS5, and it debuts a new song, “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. (Confirmed)
Most people are searching for it as “GTA 6 Trailer 3”, and that is basically what it is: the third main trailer after Trailer 1 and Trailer 2. It’s short and all about Jason and Lucia’s story, not new gameplay systems. I went through it along with what GamesRadar, Dexerto, Vice and others spotted. Here is everything in one place.

Is this GTA 6 Trailer 3?
Yes, in practice. Rockstar has released three main trailers: Trailer 1 in December 2023, Trailer 2 in May 2025, and now the Launch Trailer in October 2026. The 26-minute Extended Look in August was a longer gameplay video, not a trailer. So if you were waiting for “Trailer 3”, this is it, just with a different name.
Everything we saw in the GTA 6 launch trailer
Here is what outlets that watched it describe (Shown):
- Jason narrates. He talks about his time in the Army and leaving it on bad terms, as GamesRadar and Vice describe. Playfront adds that he says he can’t get normal loans any more.
- Jason with long hair for a big part of the trailer, according to GamesRadar.
- Lucia calls Jason from jail, and the two reconnect, according to Vice and Playfront.
- Lucia wears an ankle monitor in an intimate shower scene, and asks “are we gonna be OK”, as GamesRadar reports.
- Helicopters lift part of a bank vault into a building, which Dexerto links to the missions we saw in the Extended Look.
- Lucia jumps onto the landing gear of a moving plane, according to Shacknews.
- Vice City at its best: driving, shooting, and the two of them kissing.
The official description sums it up: when an “easy score goes wrong”, Jason and Lucia end up “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”, stuck in a conspiracy across Leonida. (Confirmed)
Here is Rockstar’s own post announcing it on X:
More GTA 6 launch trailer details you might have missed
After the first wave of breakdowns, sites went through the trailer frame by frame and spotted a lot more. Each point below links the outlet that spotted it, and I left out anything that came from leaks. (Shown, unless marked otherwise)
- It opens at Brian’s Marina. Jason is polishing a boat at Brian’s Marina when Lucia calls, as Gfinity and VGTimes describe. That links straight to Brian Heder.
- Road signs for the Keys. Signs pointing to the Keys and Goose Key show up early, and TechWiser also spotted a Catalan Key sign, according to Eastern Eye.
- Jason’s Army shirt. Gfinity reads the shirt he wears in one scene as “U.S. Army Marauder Combat Training School, North Fort Law”. (Reported)
- A night-vision swamp scene. Jason comes out of the water with two other men, wearing night-vision goggles and carrying silenced rifles (Eastern Eye, citing GameSpot). SVG thinks night vision could play a bigger part in the story than it did in GTA 5. (Not confirmed)
- A ship job from a helicopter. VGTimes describes a geared-up character dropping onto a ship from a helicopter, and later men wading through a flooded part of the ship.
- Dogs on the job. Eastern Eye spotted a dog wearing small protective goggles, and VGTimes says a character pats a police K-9 just before the ship scene. Gfinity also saw a dog in a colourful outfit and wonders if pets can be dressed up. (Not confirmed)
- Two women in pink ski masks holding AK-47s, as Eastern Eye (citing Forbes) and VGTimes describe. VGTimes thinks the woman on the left is wearing Lucia’s outfit.
- Heavy firepower. Lucia fires a grenade launcher, and in another shot a minigun from a helicopter over Vice City. Armoured NOOSE vehicles also appear with what look like mounted guns (VGTimes, SVG).
- Helicopters everywhere. SVG counts at least four helicopter scenes, including Jason walking away from an exploding chopper. VGTimes points out Jason in a suit hanging off a helicopter above the city at night, around the 1:09 mark.
- A dirt bike jump around 0:48, which SVG thinks hints that stunt jumps are back. (Not confirmed)
- Raul is there. VGTimes spotted Jason and Lucia interrogating someone with Raul Bautista.
- Little Florida touches: packed beaches, a green iguana, and a plane trailing an ad for a crypto coin, which GameSpot reads as a jab at crypto (via Eastern Eye and VGTimes).
- PS5 branding. The trailer opens with a PlayStation logo, and a PS5 controller appears on screen (VGTimes, Eastern Eye).
How fans reacted to the GTA 6 launch trailer
Not everyone loved it. Newshub rounded up reader letters that called it beautiful but vague, with one saying it “shows everything and nothing at once”. Another reader thinks Rockstar is holding back the plot on purpose. VGTimes goes further and suggests this may be the last brand-new footage before launch, with shorter ads reusing it. (Not confirmed)
I get the frustration, but I’m on the other side. With the game this close, I’d rather go in knowing less of the story.
What the launch trailer tells us about the story
This part is my reading of the trailer, put next to Rockstar’s official character profiles. (My reading)
- Lucia’s ankle monitor fits her official profile: she has just come out of Leonida Penitentiary. (Confirmed profile) It suggests she starts the game on some kind of supervised release, which would make every crime riskier for her. More in our Lucia Caminos profile.
- Jason’s Army exit matches his profile too: he joined the Army to escape a troubled youth and ended up working for drug runners in the Keys. (Confirmed profile) See our Jason Duval profile.
- The vault looks like one of the big story jobs. A section of a bank vault being moved by helicopter is the kind of set-piece Rockstar usually saves for a major heist. Everything shown about jobs so far is in our GTA 6 missions guide.
My frame-by-frame read: the deck is stacked
Rockstar’s description says Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. I went through the trailer frame by frame, and I think the small details tell that story better than the explosions do: the 8:54 AM on Jason’s watch at Brian’s Marina, his Marauders tattoo and North Fort Law shirt, the haircut that marks a time jump, the green light on his earpiece and Lucia’s ankle monitor kept in frame. (My reading)
I’ve put every clue, with screenshots, in my full GTA 6 launch trailer analysis, or you can watch my frame-by-frame video.
My theory: the three trailer songs tell the story
Put the three trailer songs in order: “Love Is a Long Road” (2023), “Hot Together” (2025) and “Flower in a Hurricane” (2026). Read together, they sound like the arc of a relationship. First the long road, with Lucia in prison and Jason far away. Then hot together, a team on the run. Then a flower in a hurricane: something beautiful and fragile right in the middle of a storm. (My theory)
Now look at how Rockstar has ended its recent stories. In GTA IV, Roman or Kate dies depending on your choice. GTA V lets you kill Michael or Trevor. John Marston dies in Red Dead Redemption, and Arthur dies in Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m the biggest RDR2 fan and I still haven’t got over Arthur, so I have a feeling Jason and Lucia are being set up the same way. I hope I’m wrong. (Not confirmed)
Flower in a Hurricane: the GTA 6 launch trailer song
The song is “Flower in a Hurricane” by French electronic duo Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. (Confirmed) Justice also composed GTA 6’s original score, and the song is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which you can pre-save on streaming services now. Wccftech reports that the album has 34 tracks, with artists including Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, Keith Richards and Yung Lean. (Reported)
The in-game stations are covered in our GTA 6 radio stations list.

Is GTA 6 delayed again?
No. The launch trailer was released with the game still dated 19 November 2026. (Confirmed) Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick told press in May: “I think we’ve been really clear that we’re releasing the title on November 19.” Playfront also reports that Rockstar ruled out a last-minute delay. (Reported) Our GTA 6 release date page has the live countdown.
What the launch trailer didn’t show
- GTA Online: nothing. Take-Two’s June press release describes GTA 6 as “a single-player experience”, so a new online mode at launch looks unlikely. (Not confirmed)
- PC: still not announced. The trailer only mentions PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. See Will GTA 6 be on PC?
- File size: Rockstar hasn’t given one. Numbers like 150 to 200 GB online are estimates. (Not confirmed)
- Gameplay systems: nothing new. For how the game plays, the Extended Look is still the best source.
One more thing: some sites today are also covering clips the leaker Cyberleek posted. Those are leaks, not part of the trailer, and I don’t share them here. I explained why in GTA 6 leaks explained.
My take
I have waited for GTA 6 since 2013, so seeing the words “Launch Trailer” honestly felt unreal. It is short, but I like that Rockstar didn’t try to show everything. It is all mood: Jason talking about his past, Lucia with that ankle monitor asking if they’ll be OK, and Justice’s song over Vice City. That ankle monitor is the detail I keep thinking about. It means Lucia starts the game with everything to lose, and I think that is going to shape the whole story.
Under five weeks to go. I’ll keep updating every guide on this site as Rockstar shares more.
