GTA 6 Map: All 6 Regions of Leonida and Vice City Explained

Share

The GTA 6 map is Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida. Rockstar has confirmed six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Rockstar hasn’t released an official full map yet. (Confirmed)

Vice City

Rockstar calls Vice City the sun and fun capital of America. It’s GTA’s take on Miami and the setting of 2002’s GTA Vice City, now rebuilt as a modern city: beaches, high-rise hotels, clubs and expensive cars, along with the hustle behind them. Ocean Beach and the rooftop bars shown in the Extended Look are part of it. (Confirmed)

The latest official images of the city are in our GTA 6 new screenshots post.

Leonida Keys

A chain of tropical islands south of the mainland, joined by long road bridges. Rockstar describes it as laid-back on the surface, with dangerous waters. This is where Jason lives and works at the start of the story. Read more in our Jason Duval guide.

This is official image artwork of Leonida Keys.

Grassrivers

Leonida’s wetlands, where Rockstar says the danger is below the surface. Expect airboats, mangroves and alligators, much like Florida’s Everglades.

Port Gellhorn

Rockstar calls this Leonida’s forgotten coast: old motels, closed-down attractions and a struggling local economy. It looks like the poorer, quieter side of the state, far from Vice City’s money.

Ambrosia

An industrial area built around sugar and dominated by a refinery. Rockstar says it’s also home to a local biker gang, so expect trouble on the roads.

Mount Kalaga

A national park on Leonida’s northern border, known for hunting, fishing and off-road trails. It’s the wildest part of the GTA 6 map so far, closer in feel to Red Dead Redemption 2 than to Vice City.

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar hasn’t given an official size. In hands-on previews it only called the map “very big”. (Confirmed) Some outlets have estimated that Leonida’s playable area is around twice the size of GTA 5’s map, but these are unofficial estimates. (Reported) I’ve put the two maps side by side in GTA 6 map vs GTA 5 map.

Is there an official GTA 6 map?

Not yet. The maps you’ll see online are fan reconstructions, built by matching trailer footage to real Florida geography. They can be impressive, but they’re guesses. We’ll add the official GTA 6 map here as soon as Rockstar releases one. Watch for it on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and social accounts.

My take

The map is what I’m most excited about. I’m the player who leaves the mission marker and goes off to see what’s behind the next hill. Six regions, from Vice City to the Keys and the swamps, sounds perfect for that. RDR2 taught me that a Rockstar map is full of small surprises if you’re patient. I’ll explore every corner of Leonida, and I’ll share what I find here after launch.
