GTA 6 safehouses work more like Red Dead Redemption 2’s camps than GTA 5’s houses. Previews say they change by chapter as Jason and Lucia move, that the two can live together, and that other characters drop by. (Reported) Rockstar has confirmed a few places by name: Jason’s home in the Keys, the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay and a garage near Ocean Beach. (Confirmed)
This list uses Rockstar’s own character profiles and edition details, plus the hands-on previews from IGN’s preview and Famitsu‘s interview with Rob Nelson.

How GTA 6 safehouses work
This is where GTA 6 sounds most like RDR2. From the previews (Reported):
- They change by chapter. Famitsu says safehouses change as Jason and Lucia move through the story, and Rockstar compares them to RDR2’s camps.
- Jason and Lucia can live together. IGN says they can share one safehouse, and each keeps their own daily schedule.
- People visit. Other characters can come over or spend time there, and some safehouses belong to other characters.
- Grooming at home. You can shave or trim hair at home, but new hairstyles still need a salon or barber.
- Real details. Famitsu says you can’t just drop a mug on the floor, and the two can share a bed with proper animations.
Jason’s home link with Brian is explained in our Brian Heder profile.
GTA 6 garages and personal vehicles
Famitsu gave the clearest details on garages (Reported):
- You start with space for three personal vehicles.
- You can buy more garages around the map.
- If every space is full, you have to sell a vehicle before adding another, a bit like horses in RDR2.
- Stolen cars can be registered as personal vehicles at a Pay & Spray.
IGN adds that each of the two leads can own several personal vehicles, and that their boots work as storage for guns and spare clothes. (Reported) More on that in our GTA 6 Ammu-Nation guide.
Can you buy houses in GTA 6?
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed buying houses or businesses. (Not confirmed) Buying extra garages is the only property purchase previews mention. In GTA 5 you could buy properties and businesses, so this may still come, but nothing official yet.

Where does Jason live in GTA 6?
At the start, Jason doesn’t own a home. Rockstar’s official profile of Brian Heder says Jason lives rent-free in one of Brian’s properties in the Leonida Keys, as long as he helps with the occasional local shakedown. (Confirmed)
The launch trailer opens right there, with Jason polishing a boat at Brian’s Marina before Lucia calls him from prison. (Shown) Whether that property is his first GTA 6 safehouse in the game hasn’t been confirmed. (Not confirmed) My reading is that it will be, because it’s how Rockstar introduces him. More in our Jason Duval backstory.
Safe zones
Famitsu also says some places are safe zones where certain crimes are blocked. Its example: you can’t steal cars parked right outside Dre’Quan’s nightclub. (Reported)
GTA 6 safehouses vs GTA 5 and RDR2
| GTA 5 | RDR2 | GTA 6 (so far) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home base | A house per character | The gang’s camp | Safehouses that change by chapter (Reported) |
| Shared living | No | Whole gang | Jason and Lucia together (Reported) |
| Visitors | Only Michael’s family at home | Camp members every day | Other characters visit (Reported) |
| Vehicle storage | Garages per character | Horses at the stable | 3 spaces to start, more garages to buy (Reported) |
| Buy property | Yes | No | Not confirmed |
My take
As a huge Red Dead Redemption 2 fan, I loved how the camp made the gang feel alive. So a GTA where Jason and Lucia actually live together, keep their own routines and get visitors sounds like a big step up from GTA 5’s empty houses. I also like the three-car limit. It means every car in your garage is one you chose.
