The GTA 6 story setup
This is everything Rockstar has officially said about the plot (Confirmed):
- Jason and Lucia are a couple, and the story is about them.
- A heist that should have been easy goes wrong.
- That puts them in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.
Who they are: Lucia Caminos has just left Leonida Penitentiary; Jason Duval is ex-Army and works for drug runners in the Keys. The GTA 6 launch trailer on 15 October added more: Lucia’s ankle monitor and Jason talking about leaving the Army on bad terms.
Two leads, one story
You play as both, and the game switches between them, even mid-chase in the Extended Look. (Confirmed, shown) It’s a smaller cast of playable characters than GTA 5’s three, which suggests the story is built around their relationship.
Chapters and choices
Hands-on previews describe the campaign as split into chapters, like Red Dead Redemption 2, with choices ranging from small to big and some consequences that only show up later. (Reported) Rockstar hasn’t detailed how much the story can change. (Not confirmed)
The Criminal Profile

My take
Rockstar’s stories are the reason I keep coming back. RDR2’s story hit me harder than most films, and GTA 5’s three-character story made every mission feel different. A couple at the centre of GTA 6 feels fresh, and I’m curious how their relationship changes as things go wrong. I’m keeping myself spoiler-free and only following what Rockstar officially shares. This story is something I want to experience for myself.
