GTA 6 Cyberleek October Leaks: The Crypto Coin Push and What’s Actually Confirmed

Share

The anonymous GTA 6 Cyberleek leaker posted new footage on 8 October and more clips of Lucia on 11 October, and is using them to promote a meme coin. (Reported) Rockstar and Take-Two haven’t commented on the new clips, and the footage hasn’t been independently verified. (Not confirmed) GTA 6 is still out on 19 November 2026. (Confirmed)

What happened this week

After more than a month of quiet following the Netflix Extended Look, the account known as Cyberleek came back with new material (Reported):

  • 5 October: a poll appeared on the leaker’s website asking what to release next.
  • 8 October: a file of roughly 25 minutes of alleged gameplay, which the leaker called the “Extended Leek”. Outlets that viewed it describe cutscenes, racing and vehicle customisation, and say some scenes show the two leads partly or fully undressed.
  • 11 October: shorter clips focused on Lucia, showing everyday play such as driving, fighting and an optional skydiving activity.

That’s as far as we’ll describe it. GTA 6 Waypoint hasn’t watched, downloaded or shared the files, and we won’t link to them.

The meme coin: why this looks like a money grab

This time the leaks are tied directly to a cryptocurrency the account created. (Reported) According to Kotaku’s report:

  • The account says it will post longer versions as the coin’s value rises, and has tied the release of a playable build to the coin reaching a $30 million market cap.
  • When Kotaku checked, the coin was worth about $4.75 million in total.
  • During an earlier quiet spell, the account appears to have made about $250,000 from selling the coin.

Kotaku describes the pattern as preparation for another pump-and-dump, where early holders sell once excitement pushes the price up and everyone who bought late loses money. (Reported) Our advice is simple: don’t buy it. Nobody, including us, can tell you who is behind it or whether they’ll ever deliver anything.

What Cyberleek says it wants

The leaker’s manifesto, the “CYBERLEEK Edict”, attacks digital pre-orders, paid single-player DLC that’s already in the game files, and games that stop working offline when servers shut down. (Reported) The account has also said Take-Two could stop a full release by selling GTA 6 on a proper disc and apologising. (Reported)

For context: physical copies of GTA 6 do exist, but the box contains a download code, not the game on a disc. (Confirmed) Our GTA 6 price in India guide explains how buying a boxed copy works.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have done

  • Court action: in August, Take-Two filed subpoenas in a New York federal court asking Microsoft and Discord for account records linked to Cyberleek, “to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers”. (Confirmed, court filing)
  • Takedowns: Take-Two has filed copyright takedowns against posts sharing the footage, and the leaker’s main Telegram channel was removed. (Reported)
  • Rockstar’s statement: on 26 August Rockstar called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and “obviously not how we intended you to see the game after all this time”. (Confirmed)
  • The October clips: as of 12 October, neither company has commented on them. (Not confirmed)

The leaker hasn’t been publicly identified. Den of Geek’s timeline covers the legal steps in more detail, and our own background piece is GTA 6 leaks explained.

Is the footage real?

We don’t know, and nobody has proven it either way. Reporters who looked at it think it may come from an older or debug build, which would explain odd moments in the clips. (Reported) Unfinished builds often contain test content that never ships, so nothing in these clips should be treated as how the final game plays.

Watch out for fake “GTA 6 leak” downloads

Every wave of leaks brings scam links: “full leak” ZIP files, “GTA 6 APK” downloads and Telegram groups asking for payment. These are a common way to spread malware or steal accounts. GTA 6 is only coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the only safe place to get it is the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store or a trusted retailer. (Confirmed)

Why GTA 6 Waypoint doesn’t share leaked footage

The footage was taken without permission, it’s being used to sell a coin, and it may not reflect the finished game. Sharing it would also spoil the story for readers who want to go in fresh. We’ll report on the situation, but we only describe what Rockstar has officially shown.

What’s officially confirmed about Lucia

Lucia Caminos is one of GTA 6’s two playable leads. Rockstar’s official introduction shows her fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary, with Liberty City roots, partnering with Jason Duval. (Confirmed) Everything Rockstar has said about her is in our Lucia Caminos guide, and Jason’s background is in Jason Duval explained.

My take

Honestly, this whole Cyberleek situation makes me sad as a fan. I’ve waited since 2013, and now someone is using clips of the game to push a crypto coin. That isn’t a protest, it’s a business. From what reporters say, these clips likely come from an older build, so they may not show the game Rockstar will actually release. I haven’t watched them and I won’t. I’d rather stay loyal to Rockstar and see Vice City properly on 19 November, the way the developers wanted us to.
